A-Level Business Studies

A-Level Business Studies

AQA ‐ A Level

Business Studies is a dynamic subject that fosters an interest in the outside world and allows students to relate their studies to the events that are making the headlines. Students will acquire the knowledge and skills needed to analyse data, think critically, and make informed decisions regarding topics and issues that are relevant in today’s society. There will be a mix of traditional teacher lectures and workshops where students will be able to use computers to undertake research tasks.
Students have access to all lesson resources on Moodle and are encouraged to download resources after each lesson to continue making notes or complete extra revision at home. A high proportion of A Level Business students go on to study business‐related courses at university and many have secured degree‐level apprenticeships with large international companies.

Course Breakdown

In Year 12, you will complete six units: Introduction to Business, Leadership, Marketing, Finance, Production and HR. These units cover the characteristics that you will need to be successful in business.
In Year 13, you will complete an additional four units: Analysing the Strategic Position of a Business, Choosing Strategic Direction, Strategic Methods and Managing Change. These units cover the issues faced by businesses trading internationally, as well as how to assess business performance.
You will sit 3 x 2 hour exams at the end of the two‐year course and theory from across all ten units can be assessed on any paper.
