Academic Pathway

Students at Codsall are fortunate to have staff who are all highly experienced and qualified teachers. Our results are outstanding each year.

The vast majority of our Football Academy students graduate into University. We have excellent links with universities both local and further afield. We regularly host universities such as Wolverhampton, Staffordshire, Worcester and York St.John’s into school to promote their courses and also visit them in return. Other popular destinations range from Loughborough (The UK’s top sport university) to Bournemouth who specifically focus on the Business of Football. It is also common for our students to attend university on soccer scholarships in the USA too.

WHAT WILL I STUDY?

Over a period of two years the students will follow the vocational BTEC National Diploma in Sport (Sporting Excellence & Performance) course, equivalent to three, traditional A-Levels. There are ten units of work in total that provide the students with depth and breadth, including; Anatomy & Physiology, Careers in Sport, Professional Sports Performer, Health & Wellbeing, Sports Nutrition, Sports Psychology, Sports Coaching, Rules & Regulations, Organising Sports Events, Sports Research Project.

WHAT CAN THE COURSE LEAD TO?

By following, and successfully completing the BTEC National Diploma in Sport, the students will have a number of options:-

* 4 year Football Scholarship at a University in the USA (combined with a degree of their choice)

* Sports related degree at a UK University (future jobs – physiotherapy, sports coaching, PE teaching, fitness instructing, personal trainer, sport and leisure management etc)

* Full-time employment within the Sport and Leisure Industry

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

Additionally, over the course of two years, the pupils will have the opportunity to gain
extra qualifications which may include;

* FA Coaching Certificate Level 1 & 2 (incorporating Basic First Aid and Safeguarding)
* Refereeing
* Futsal coaching
* L1 Personal Training
* L1 Talent ID
