The Football Academy programme challenges the individual both academically and practically. An intensive course, students follow the Level 3 BTEC National Extended Diploma in Sport, a natural progression from either Level 2 or GCSE Physical Education. The academic skills learnt on this course provide a natural pathway into Higher Education. With a particular emphasis on Coaching, this course is ideal for those looking at coaching or teaching as a career.
Practically, the students follow a daily comprehensive training programme, led by a highly qualified coaching staff, being coached to develop both their individual and collective skills, whilst
representing the school in the regional AOC British College’s Leagues.
Course breakdown
There are twelve units of work to be covered, six per year. All units are internally assessed (coursework) and there is no final exam. Units vary in size from 60 guided learning hours to 180
guided learning hours. Each unit is individual graded, from Pass to Distinction, and is suitably weighted depending upon the guided learning hours.
