Update on Coronavirus, Key Worker Families, Free School Meals & Students with EHCPs/Vulnerable Learners

The govt released its updated key worker list last night. Please note that within this guidance it states the following:

"Children should remain at home wherever possible"
"Schools should remain open for those who absolutely need to attend" and for "Children whose parents are critical to the Co-Vid 19 response and cannot safely be cared for at home"

The vast majority of children are expected to stay at home as they are old enough to care for themselves during the day. Please contact us if you are a key worker and your Child "absolutely needs to attend"

Children MUST be booked into sessions via this link. We do not have capacity to receive children on an ad hoc basis.

Dear Parent / Carer,

As you will no doubt be aware the govt updated some of its guidance yesterday but insisted that schools should continue to run as normal. However, we have made some changes to our day to day practice to follow the guidance where possible, namely:

  • Assemblies will be cancelled for the foreseeable future.
  • Year 9 Parents’ Evening arranged for Thursday 26th March has been postponed.
  • Any future sporting tournaments and field work activities have been postponed.
  • We continue to review all arrangements in school in line with govt advice on a daily basis. I know that there are a number of parents who are concerned about the inconsistency in some of the guidance but I would plead with you all to understand that we are doing the best we can with the information we are given. Schools have not had information in advance of anyone else.

I would remind parents and carers that they should familiarise themselves with the current government guidance.

    Coronavirus-Covid-19-List-of-Guidance

To avoid any uncertainty. Any child displaying these symptoms or is living with a sibling or family member with these symptoms, has been sent home and will be expected to remain away from school as per the 14 day self-isolation period.

As with most employers we are now starting to see the impact of staff following govt advice of self isolating even if a family member has flu like symptoms.

As a consequence of this and the likelihood of the issue becoming more acute in the coming weeks we will be reducing our reception opening times from 8am to 10am and 2pm until 4pm. Outside of these times staff will be deployed elsewhere in school.

Please note if there is an increase in teaching staff absence it may become necessary to ask year groups to stay at home on an ad hoc basis. We will try to minimise the impact on exam classes where we can and will work to ensure parents know with as much advance notice as possible.

I would ask for your patience and understanding in these very trying circumstances. We are all trying our best to do what we can within the guidance we have been issued.
