In January, we launched our new “Unifrog” complete destinations career platform with access to information for local colleges and universities, CV writing, personality profile, competency tests, career pathway information and much, much more…
Why not take a look?: Introduction to Unifrog from Unifrog
All students have received login information and guidance on how to access the platform and, despite remote learning, 67% of our students have accessed the platform.
All students were set homework tasks to complete: competency tests; a personality profile; research project and this will be built on throughout the next academic year.
Virtual “Introduce a Girl to Engineering” Day with Collins Aerospace
In February, five of our Year 9 girls were invited to take part in “Introduce a Girl to engineering”. The day-long event was one of 55 events in 12 countries to celebrate Collins aerospace 20th year of supporting the event. The event involved over 3000 female students from around the world to enlighten them on careers opportunities they may never have considered. Time Magazine ‘Kid of the Year’ Gintanjali Rao, conducted a virtual innovation workshop to the girls around the world on the day.
Collins Aerospace feedback:
“We were blown away by the interest and questions that the students were asking and we hope they enjoyed the event as much as we did.”
“I really enjoyed the day, my favourite part was listening to Time kid of the year and doing the hands-on activities. I think I am more likely to consider a career in engineering now I know the wide range of opportunities in the sector. I thought it was a great experience, it was very inspirational and it couldn’t have given a better insight into the world of engineering”
“The day was great, we learnt a lot about what engineering was about and what qualifications you need to become an engineer. It was a very enjoyable day and making the rocket was great fun.”
“Matilda thoroughly enjoyed the day, especially the activities including making a paper rocket and sling shot. It was inspiring to see what women could achieve in Engineering”
Work Experience and Employability Skills Day
Due to COVID restrictions our Year 10 and Year 12 work experience weeks and Cosford Employability Skills Day were cancelled again this year. However, we have already added dates into the 2021-22 academic calendar and hopefully it will all go ahead as planned.
Year 11 Leavers
Most of our Year 11 students who are not returning to Sixth form have already been supported into college or apprenticeship places. This is a great achievement given the difficulties they have faced over the past two academic years.
Jackie Flint, our L6 Careers advisor, will be contactable via email/mobile to speak with any Y11 or Y13 students feeling in need of career’s advice following results day.
Always remember that the Careers area of our school website has all relevant information and resources. You will find:
- Contact details
- Labour market information (LMI)
- Careers links to: NHS, Armed Forces, Apprenticeships, UCAS and much more…
- Careers News
- CCHS Careers Schedule
Year 9 and Year 10 students have been given the opportunity to shape our careers programme by taking part in a careers survey via Edulink. The results from the survey will help us develop the programme to ensure students know, where and who to go to, to get information from. And more important how best to develop their own careers pathway.
We wish you all a safe and peaceful summer.
