Football Academy Volunteer – Internship

In 2009, Codsall Community High School opened the first Football Academy in the UK.

Football Academy students follow the BTEC National Diploma in Sport (equivalent to 3 A-Levels) plus an extra AS/A-Level of the student’s choice. The two-year course for 16-19 year olds is followed in 6th form and provides students with the opportunity to study for a nationally recognised qualification on weekday mornings and to train with the Football Academy squad every day.

Our Academy has gone from strength to strength and competes in:
• British Colleges Football League
• Staffordshire and West Midlands Cups
• English Schools National Cup
• Needham Memorial Day Tournament USA
Additional qualifications include:
• Peer Mentoring
• Sports Leaders
• Sports Coaching and Officiating awards

Individually, the students will be monitored and mentored closely, with a large emphasis being placed on their academic achievement, and receiving sound careers advice.

We are looking for someone for one academic year, preferably of graduate level, to work within the Football department on a daily basis as an intern/volunteer.

The role will consist of assisting the full-time staff in;

Kit and equipment management, match filming and video analysis.
Working with small groups of students in training sessions on specific identified areas of development.
Leading parts of training sessions, student recruitment, preparation for international tours and curriculum development.

The position would be ideal for a graduate who has specialised in an area such as; sports coaching/management, strength and conditioning, sport and exercise science, sports rehabilitation or sports analysis. Other strengths will be considered.

Ideally we would like a person who could come in and make a difference to the programme immediately. Throughout the duration of the internship you will have excellent support from the four members of staff, several with professional club experience and all fully qualified teachers that teach the academic part of the programme.
