Learning Mentor for Science & Maths

We are looking for recently qualified graduates to mentor our 6th form students on a one to one basis. Applicants should be enthusiastic and have excellent interpersonal skills. It is likely that the position will be filled by a number of people who are able to offer a minimum of working one day per week .

Exam Results August 2011

Key Stage 4

In 2011, our students set new records in the GCSE exams with results once again
putting Codsall Community High in the top 10% of schools in the country. The
headline figures were:

More than fifty students gained five or more A* to A grades

76% gained A* to C grades in English

76% gained A* to C grades in Mathematics

97% achieved five or more higher passes at GCSE (A* to C)

Key Stage 5

This year was also a record breaking year for the Sixth Form where results were also outstanding. Headlines were:

62% of students gaining higher passes (A* to B) on Advanced Level courses
100% of students passed their A level course.

Transport – 535 bus to be replaced with No.5 bus

The 535 service is being replaced by a new No:5 service which will not come on to the school site.
 
New bus stops are being created on Elliotts Lane near to the school entrance and hopefully these will be in position for September 2011.

The timetable for the new service is not yet available, there will be a copy on the website in due course.

Outstanding!

“Codsall Community High School is an outstanding school” Ofsted, May 2011

As I’m sure you are aware. Ofsted inspected the school on the 11th and 12th of May. We are very proud that Ofsted rated us Outstanding overall with outstanding features across the board.

Some Highlights are:

  • “Care, guidance and support provided by the school are outstanding.”
  • “Safeguarding provided by the school is outstanding.”
  • “A particularly strong feature of teaching is the outstanding way that teachers assess students progress.”
  • “The curriculum offered by the school is outstanding.”
  • “The school is deeply inclusive with a commitment to making sure that all students can succeed.”

The outstanding judgement puts the school in the top 12% of secondary schools in the country.

I believe we have a school the community can be proud of.

Thanks to everyone who has helped and supported the school over the past few yearsand in particularthe parents of our students, our Governing body and the staff for all their hard work.

Specialist Schools and Academies Trust Awards

Codsall Community High School, a specialist Maths and computing college, was presented with two awards at a recent dinner held in central London by The Specialist Schools and Academies Trust.

 These were for its achievements in 2010 in terms of:- 

  • Success in Adding Value
  • Most Improved Specialist Schools and Academies – improvements year on year 2007 – 2010 by 35 percentage points or more

 Mrs Tunnicliffe, Headteacher, said “ The school has over the last 6 years made significant progress with its exam results which are now consistently well above the national average. This is due to the hard work and commitment of our staff and the enthusiasm and determination of our students. The school offers a very wide range of courses both pre and post 16 and our 6th form now numbers over 300 students.
